Home Âŧ Case Study Âŧ Case Study: Island County Improves Shoreline Exemption Permit Process
Island County wanted to issue its shoreline exemption permits in half the time of what it was once taking: 90 days. The County participated in the Local Government Performance’s Center Lean Academy to find out how to improve and accomplish tasks faster. The new goal was to issue permits in 45 days or less. The improvement team went through an intense five-day review and found new ways to eliminate delays. New tools and processes included daily standup meetings, changing the office setup, and helping applicants with their applications in one day.
