Clark County participated in the Local Government Performance Center’s Lean Academy to help kickstart their permitting goal: cut the time it takes to issue a single family housing permit from 23 days to 11 days. On average, three out of four applications to build a new house in Clark County arrive incomplete. Since participating in the Lean Academy, a team now checks to determine if all the new permits are complete within a day after the application was submitted. By removing the handoffs from one reviewer to another, Clark County saves a few days in the review process. In addition, Clark County brought in a Lean expert for an outside perspective.
