DESCRIPTION

The GLSS Safety Learning Path provides specialized training across various safety standards and practices for construction and workplace safety. Our courses are Competent Person-Level, which give people and companies essential knowledge to navigate the complexities of workplace safety laws and create a secure work environment. Each course aims to enhance safety awareness and compliance through comprehensive instruction on relevant standards and safety measures, tailored to specific roles and responsibilities within the construction and general industry sectors.

COURSE CONTENT

The Confined Space Training & Certification focuses on OSHA 1926 Subpart AA, covering all aspects of confined spaces in construction including their definitions, classifications (non-permit, alternate procedure permit, permit required), communication, responsibilities of contractors and hosts, entry procedures, training, roles of entrants and supervisors, emergency services, and necessary equipment like air monitors and ventilation systems.

Course 2: Fall Protection

The Fall Protection Training & Certification is based on multiple standards including 29 CFR 1926 Sub Part M, this course details the regulatory requirements for fall protection, the duty of protection, system designs, usage, inspections, rescue plans, and the development of a site-specific fall protection program.

Course 3: Electrical Safety & Lockout/Tagout Awareness

The Electrical Safety & Lockout/Tagout Awareness Training & Certification is designed for “unqualified persons” as per OSHA’s classification, this course introduces basic electrical safety, the recognition of electrical hazards, and general lockout/tagout procedures to control and eliminate risks from various types of energy encountered in the workplace.

Course 4: Scaffolding
The Scaffolding Training & Certification addresses OSHA 1926 Subpart L, emphasizing scaffold safety, including design, capacity, construction, usage, access, fall and falling object protection, and specific scaffolds like fabricated frame and mobile scaffolds. Training requirements and roles of competent and qualified persons are also covered.
Course 5: Excavation & Trenching
The Excavation & Trenching Training & Certification follows OSHA 1926 Subpart P, covering definitions, roles, safety measures against various hazards (e.g., vehicular traffic, falling loads, water accumulation), and protective systems like sloping, shielding, and shoring. Emphasis is also placed on soil classification and excavation inspections.

Overall, the course was well put together with great information and easy to follow and understand for an online course. I think the only critique I have is that when you take the exam and get an incorrect answer, you are only told the question that you got incorrect not the answer which would be helpful, because you are also not provided with a usable explanation for how to possibly remember the content without having to go back through the whole module. It is a tradeoff of not having an instructor-based class.

by Michael Holmes on GoLeanSixSigma.com (GLSS)

The GLSS Green Belt course is excellent for those looking to enhance their process improvement skills. The course platform is intuitive and easy to follow, making the learning process smooth and engaging. The Kure platform is particularly helpful for applying the training to real-world projects, providing hands-on experience. These skills are incredibly valuable in my position, and I've already started using them across multiple areas of my job with positive results.
