The Pierce County divisions of Public Works & Utilities Department each used their own contracting and procurement processes. To streamline work and standardize business-to-business approaches, Pierce County developed new contract management processes and procedures by using Lean principles and best practices. Techniques such as work flow mapping, root cause analysis, and brainstorming were used to identify initial delays and repeated work. Pierce County divisions of Public Works & Utilities is now experiencing faster approval of work assignments, quicker invoice approval, and no approval delays.
