Using the Lean philosophy, Kitsap County cut the time it took to approve a housing permit from 26 days to 8 days. Without reducing the staff or adding major resources, the Kitsap County team was able to eliminate more than 50 steps in their process. To eliminate these steps, the team clarified requirements, moved offices, and set repeat meeting times.
