Honolulu, HI — June 18, 2026 — The Tao Mission Award Ceremony, hosted by GLSS, Kure, and Tao Mission, was held Thursday evening at The Stage Restaurant to honor the remarkable achievements of student leaders from Farrington High School.
This year’s cohort was recognized for their commitment to community well‑being and their ability to apply data‑driven problem‑solving, process improvement, and leadership skills through GLSS Yellow Belt and Green Belt Training supported by Kure’s AI‑powered project management platform.
The event featured project presentations delivered to a panel of distinguished business leaders and community guests, including Philippine Vice Consul Leizel Caasi; Chief Administrator for Kalāhiki Joshua Stanbro; Community Relations Specialist for the Hawaiian Council Rufino Magliba, Founder & President of Visionary Views Jerome Adarna, and Founder & CEO of Blend House Elvinse Moleta.

Among the featured student projects:
Increasing the Farrington High School Kuleana Fair Completion Rate — This project achieved an 85.1% increase in student completion by relocating the event from their school cafeteria to the library, eliminating space constraints caused by oversized tables identified through survey data.

Increasing Student Engagement Within Student-Led Events — This project increased participation from 36 to 82 students by improving advertising media and expanding outreach efforts.

This year’s program also includes a Tao Mission Alumni Showcase, featuring two presentations from previous cohorts. Among the alumni featured projects:
Decreasing the Set-Up Time Within Events Held at the Filipino Community Center — This project reduced set‑up time in Filipino community centers from 120 minutes to 30 by applying the 5S methodology and reorganizing materials.

How GLSS Empowered Farrington High Students to Revolutionize Financial Literacy Learning — This project promoted financial literacy among high school students, laying the foundation for system-level change with the potential to impact millions.

In recognition of their impact, students were awarded scholarships celebrating their dedication, innovation, and leadership. The ceremony also provided opportunities for students to network with business professionals, connect with fellow student leaders, and be honored in a prestigious setting that reflects the significance of their accomplishments. This event served not only as a culmination of months of hard work, but also as a launching point for students’ future success in college, entrepreneurship, and leadership roles.
Special thanks to Farrington High School teacher David Chattergy for his continued mentorship and support. Congratulations to all the students on this well‑deserved recognition!
