Waipahu High School celebrated the unveiling of a new $29 million learning center, emphasizing agricultural technology education. The three-story building accommodates natural resources and culinary programs, featuring hydroponic systems and commercial-grade kitchens.
Generous donations from Mountain View Farms include self-sustaining garden boxes with nutrient-rich soil and various vegetables. The harvested food will be used in the school’s cafeteria and for lessons on natural food and health. The initiative aims to promote sustainability, reduce costs, and make farming more appealing to younger generations by integrating agricultural technology into education.
âWe are so dependent on outside resources for food. The more that we can bring knowledge to our young people about not just where our food comes from, but about what the benefits of really clean healthy food are, the better our community will be for future generations.â
