Case Study: Lean Six Sigma Reduces Risk of Healthcare-Associated Infections
According to a study published online in the Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice, application of the Lean Six Sigma methodology can reduce the risk of health care-associated infections among patients undergoing surgical procedures. Data was collected on more than 20,000 patients who underwent a wide range of surgical procedures and researchers observed a 20 percent reduction in the average number of hospitalization days between pre-intervention and control phases.
