A Process Walk is an activity that can be included in a Kaizen Event, or it can occur outside of a Kaizen Event as a separate activity.

Kaizen Event agendas typically follow:

  • Walk the Process
  • Map the Process
  • Fix the process

However, the concern with that, is that you don’t know what you are going to find during a process walk, and teams don’t always have the right people needed for the Kaizen Event. A Process Walk is also a typical activity when doing a Value-Stream Mapping session when the agenda is Walk the Process, Build Current State Map and Build Future State Map.
