Six Sigma without Lean means you lose the Lean Tools. You still have a robust process improvement method but you donât get instruction on how to conduct things like Process Walks and those provide a way to understand the process, engage people and build a detailed map. It would be unfortunate to lose tools like that. There are also a lot of Lean concepts that come into play in the Improve Phase that are classic solutions like Cell Design, Kanbans, etc. We prefer the combination of Lean and Six Sigma so we get the entire tool kit!
No matter what training you receive, itâs up to you as the individual to apply the concepts.
GoLeanSixSigma.comâs training material is geared toward practical application, but without the motivation to apply and learn in real life, thereâs no guarantee that any training makes someone a practitioner at something. Effective learning usually includes both.
Also, Green Belt level training increasingly shows up on job postings as problem-solving grows as a desired skill set.
There are many people that get their certification for a few reasons:
First, the individualâs company is embarking on a Lean journey or Continuous Improvement Initiative and wants the employees to get certified. So, in this case, you would be supporting the wishes of your organization by doing so.
Second, we often see individuals that have a personal interest in learning about process improvement. Some of these individuals are students and some are individuals looking to enhance their own skills in their current career. One of the nice things about process improvement is that the investment in learning will not become obsolete. Unlike learning software programs, process improvement is about process change, and change never stops. What better skill to build then making change happen more effectively and efficiently!
Lastly, we also see individuals that are in a job transition and are looking to increase their skills. Sometimes, this is because they see that many job postings prefer Lean Six Sigma training or certification and the individual wants to strengthen their resume with the Lean Six Sigma certifications.
NOTE: Green Belt level training increasingly shows up on job postings as problem-solving grows as a desired skill set.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about our Lean Six Sigma Training & Certification.
If your question is not answered here, please feel free to contact us.
There is no time limit for the lessons, as our course is self-paced.
However, there is a 4-hour time limit for the Certification Exams. In other words, the total time you spend on all 6 exams cannot exceed 4 hours.
This allows for approximately 35-45 minutes per exam. Should you need further assistance, please know that you are allotted unlimited re-takes for all exams, and all exams are open-book.
The course we recommend is based on your goal. If your goal is to become a Green Belt or Black Belt, you can start with the Green Belt course right away since White Belt and Yellow Belt content is covered in this course. If your goal is to only become a Yellow Belt, then you can take the Yellow Belt course.
Our Green Belt Training & Certification requires completion of training and an exam only. There is no project required because we walk you through a cycle time reduction project step-by-step. On the other hand, the Black Belt Training & Certification requires a live project. You can learn more about the Black Belt Course and the requirements here. There is no project requirement for the Yellow Belt Training & Certification.
We do supply an example of a project submittal in the Black Belt Training. The project example is from our Bahama Bistro setting used throughout the course. You will also have a project template that can help guide you with project content.
Although work-related projects are the most ideal, the DMAIC process can be applied with personal use, but it will still require the rigor associated with Black Belt level projects. All projects will go through an approval process by a Master Black Belt.
