I was wondering if you or one of the black belts could provide insight as to which process improvement framework is better, Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) or DMAIC? Maybe there is a time to use one over the other but I was looking to see if there was any guidance on which is preferred and in what situation?

That’s a great question and they are both great methods. Since they both follow the Scientific Method, they are not that different. Below is an overlay of the two methods to show you how they compare.

We use DMAIC here at GoLeanSixSigma.com but we created two introductory webinars for both DMAIC and PDCA to help people decide what’s right for them. I hope that helps!
