In terms of deciding whether to use PDCA or DMAIC, which is preferred and in what situation?

I was wondering if you or one of the black belts could provide insight as to which process improvement framework is better, Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) or DMAIC? Maybe there is a time to use one over the other but I was looking to see if there was any guidance on which is preferred…
