This is a great question, and I’m glad to hear that you’re excited to apply your problem solving skills! You may want to reframe how you’re thinking about bringing your boss along on your journey. Having to “convince” another person of anything always sounds like an uphill battle. What makes better converts (faster) is if they can “see” for themselves. Is there something that bugs your boss? Is there a (manageable) issue that you could address that would make a difference in his/her eyes? Start there, but also include your boss in the effort. There are a lot of common Lean Six Sigma tools you can use to engage your boss. To get a good list of these tools, take a look at the blog, “Stop Selling: 5 Mindful Ways to Engage Others in Fixing a Process.” There are some great tips in there that I think get right to the heart of what you’d like to achieve. Good Luck!!
